Dahlco 3000 tractor

Hello tractor owners. I am trying to help my Uncle fix his Skid steer that came as a kit in the 80's and is owned now by Struck. The tractor has transmission trouble, he say's he hear something snap one day while pushing something and 2nd gear can't be found. It has a 16HP Tecumseh engine and a Peerless 2338 transaxle 4 speed + rev. I can't seem to find any parts for this transmission and we don't want to take it apart if we can't find what we need. I'm almost positive it is the same power package that was used in lawn tractors back then and it has a vertical input shaft as opposed to the horizontal ones that seem to be more prevalent. Anyway, If anyone knows how to locate parts or a transmission that would be great he also said he would sell it too, so if anyone is interested I can take pictures. It runs and is in great shape aside from the transmission trouble.
