Cutting down the lugs on rice patty tires

Anyone ever tried cutting down the lugs on rice patty tires? I am going to trim mine down by an inch or so as they are tearing up my gravel driveway. Tractor is an E-14 Hinomoto 2wd with 8-18 rears. Your thoughts?

How are you going to do it.
If with a grinder BE CAREFUL!
Ive got a friend that got tore up doing it.
Good quality hot knives are the way to go but a good one is expensive.

I know someone that cut their rear tire lugs.
He used a sawzall and he dipped the blade in oil for every cut he made.

He took about 2 inches off the tires.

I was going to use a sawzall. Or a grinder with a carbide blade. i will let you know how it goes.

Its too badd you cant do burn outs to remove rubber :laughing: .

I am not sure if a siping tool is wide enough to cut the lugs.

Interesting.
I also discovered that trick when I needed to cut thick rubber.
Also works well with plexiglass and a jigsaw.
