the teeth work GREAT! you wouldn't believe how they help with digging.

it's alder... when you cut it the wood is white but after about an hour it turns orange, kinda like the way an apple turns brown after its cut.

I also find bucket forks work great to lift your trees to log them up too

oh yes! the rounds were 36" + so this was the only way i could lift them so i could get em home and split them the rest of the way.

Looks like ash in your pic ? Got any problems with borer beetles ? Just took down a huge ash, all the bark had holes from the beetle damage !

It is in deed Ash, without gloves it turns my hands gray. I did not see any specific beetles, but a ton of black ants in the roots...

I hated taking it down but lightning had destroyed the top and it was dangerous.
