Hello, I am a new PT425 owner. I picked up the whole trailer package with several attachments last week. I will post a few pictures of the new machine once I get them transfered.

Has anyone tried to install a proportional hydraulic valve in the treadle circuit. There is one pressure line that feeds the treadle and if that line was restricted flow wise it should set the maximum speed. You would then be able to depress the treadle all the way and only go so fast. I will be doing alot of mowing and keeping constant speed could be an issue. I mentioned it to Terry and Eddie and they both thought it might work. Anyone with thoughts??

Hi Dave,

Hearty congratulations, and wishing you lots of enjoyable hours with your 425!

What attachments did you get? Can't wait to see some pictures. We PTers just love pictures--- pictures of equipment and pictures of projects, too.

There was a thread here back in Jan which addressed hydraulic flow restrictors as applied to the FEL circuit {HERE} . I would think that the same principle could be applied to the treadle circuit. Take a look and see what you think.

Welcome aboard.

At the risk of proposing a somewhat less sexy modification, wouldn't a block under the right pedal do the same thing?

But will you need it? I've mowed a lot of hours with the 1845 without feeling I needed a cruise control or a speed limiter.

David,
Welcome to the TBN family.
I run my 425 very hard (300 hours first year) and after the initial discomfort of treadle pressure and the foot I have had no problems.
Will be interested in hearing from others on this issue.

I installed the restrictors in the lift circuit and am very satisfied with the results. Would I put them into the drive circuit? Nope. But the above mentioned "block of wood" solution would work very well and be easily modified. I have the treadle springs installed and now find driving my PT to be steady and true even using only the right foot. I think restricting that circuit would work but that there would be too many times that you wouldn't want it restricted.
