The bowl on my Jinma 284 has cracked so I'm deciding whether to go OEM or something else. It wasn't just the bowl that was the problem since the petcock started leaking too. The tractor is 12 years old but up till a week ago I'd never used the petcock or removed the sediment bowl. This makes me wonder if the OEM units are inherently prone to fail or is 12 years of being subject to diesel fuel what caused the failures. So far I've only found one other sediment bowl (much more expensive) that will install without any modifications. What other options are out there? I'd prefer to NOT just have an inline filter without using a sediment bowl at all.

I forget the actual cost, but when that happened with my Branson tractor, the cost of a new fuel pump was outrageous. My dealer suggested replacing it with a Mr Gasket electric diesel fuel pump, which worked great for a few years. I replaced that one with another, and it also lasted a couple of years. Then I tried another brand, that has lasted about five years, and just last week, I ordered this one from Amazon that I hope to install this weekend.

I replaced mine this summer, the whole unit came in one piece. A few years ago I cut my fuel line and put an on line filter on works great and they only cost about 5$ Good Luck Slammer

I have never used my petcock either and it weeps slightly(12 years old also). I think the rubber seals are not the best quality and eventually fail, might fail sooner if any bio-diesel has found it's way into the mix. I am also pretty good at keeping my fuel supply clean and have never found anything in the sediment bowl. It is nice to be able to look, but I wouldn't feel too bad about just putting a hose barb fitting on the tank and installing a inline can filter. IMO, the can having a lower area before the outlet, or even being mounted so the outlet is higher than the inlet would serve the same purpose... If it had a clear housing, it could still be inspected for water and debris...

Tried our local NAPA store. Got the "deer in the headlights" look when I mentioned it was for a Jinma tractor. Also mentioned I thought it could be replaced with a glass bowl made by Tillotson but still no go. Since the petcock is shot on the sediment bowl I have now, I'm in the process of deciding whether to do some kind of mod on the system (separate inline fuel filter and shutoff valve), an aftermarket sediment bowl or use the OEM. If I decide on the OEM I want to know I can at least replace the bowl on it and not have to buy a whole new unit if the bowl cracks. Thinking about trying to "fix" the petcock on the one I have now too. If I can accomplish that and find a replacement bowl, I'll go that route. They're talking more snow in my area of the country this year so I've GOT to get this tractor running again. Still hoping it's just a SIMPLE lack of fuel problem.

This is what I used, and it fit perfectly.

Thanks for the quick response Bob. I clicked on the URL you included in your post and, if the picture shown is the exact fuel bowl your speaking of, it will not work with my unit. The one shown looks like it has a hole in the bottom of the bowl. Mine does not. Do you know of a website that has dimensions for fuel bowls?

Sorry, I didn't see the other URL for sediment bowl replacements. Looks like none of these have M16 x 1.5mm nipples to mount direct to the fuel tank. I did find a petcock assembly that attaches to the fuel tank with a M16 x 1.5mm nut. Only problem is the output nozzle is only 2.5mm I.D. where the original output is 5mm. Would this work without starving the system of fuel?

Seriously? That isn't a hole, it's an indentation in the glass that's used to center the thumbwheel THEY ALL HAVE THAT! Mine does not.Look again, yes it does.Do you know of a website that has dimensions for fuel bowls?
The bowls of this type are all the same diameter, but some are short and some are tall. The one I used is the tall one.

Those are just the one at NAPA. Just Google metric sediment bowl assembly.
