CPAP

In reviewing the data on my Resmed 11, it indicates that during the last sleep episode (8.5 hours), I had one apnea episode. During my sleep test, I had 26 PER HOUR! Guess it’s working. (y)
Super good!

Side sleeper here also. Its a rare occurrence that the hose tangles or disconnects on my bipap.
Mine came with three sizes of pillows and choosing the right size makes a big difference in the seal.

Just went to my sister’s funeral today. She had untreated sleep apnea and died in her sleep. She wouldn’t get treated for it. Her husband wears a cpap. She tried it but couldn’t deal with it. 65 years old.

Very sorry to hear this! Certainly too young!

I'm 83 now, my Asthma Dr. told me about 30 years ago to avoid having to use a CPAP if at all possible, same for an oxygen aid. He continued to say using either would cause my body to depend on them, and I could never go back.
Apparently he was right in my case.

Offering my condolences for your loss.

I have been on cpap therapy for many years, have used and tried a number of different mask styles. Did OK with nasel masks, couldn't stand full face. I currently use a Phillips under the nose mask, very light weight, the hose attaches at the top of my head so it doesn't tangle around my head and neck if I roll over. The machine I use currently is a Resmed Apap, I like everything but the hose, it's much stiffer than the Phillips I used to have, I have gotten used to it.

Just curious. If there is a power failure or the hose gets kinked and you're using a CPAP mask that covers both your mouth and nose, what keeps you from suffocating?

You will stop breathing and wake up, just like you do when not wearing a mask with sleep apnea.

I move around a lot while sleeping and never had a kink in my hose. Lost power one night, felt the air stop, took off my mask and spent about two miserable hours until the I heard the CPAP come back on when the power was restored.
