CPAP

I used to wake up several times at night to go to the bathroom, thinking it was my urge to pee that woke me up. Since starting cpap, I do not get up during the night anymore.
Wearing the cpap does seem to reduce the number of times I have to get up to pee at night.

How do you keep the hose from getting tangled in the bedding or pulled off when you turn from side to side?
Side sleeper also. There is plenty of CPAP hose. I've never had an issue with this. You'll get used to it.

You won't have trouble falling back to sleep once you get acclimated to the CPAP machine. Some of it is in your head so don't psych yourself out before you even try it.

I purchased one of the self monitor machine and found that I too stopped breathing several times a night.

Then I started using the sticky nose strips which helped remarkably according to the monitor.

Then I started taping my mouth shut which was a little difficult because of the mustachio and beard but I figured it out. This also helped.

Finally, I wired a small switch to a small pager motor with a rechargeable lithium battery that I placed into a small wooden disk that I pin to the back of my sleep shirt, about where my shoulder blades are located. Then when I roll onto my back, the pager wakes me up and I roll on my side.

I still have some stoppage at night, but that has made it much better.

Necessity is the mother of invention!

I have a bed with chests on both sides and a storage cabinet as wide as the bed and about a foot in depth. I change positions from my left to right side throughout the night and had pulled the machine off the cabinet. I put two screws through a plastic tray that catch the back of the cabinet. My machine sits on the tray. It stays put.

My mask has to be tight to minimize leakage. That would irritate the bridge on my nose. You can buy silicon nose protectors but i just buy a pack of those rectangular pads sold in the foot care aisle. The thin ones. I cut eight pieces out of one rectangular strip so a pack of them gives me 24 nights of nose protection for like 2 bucks.

Why not just buy a mask liner? Take a look at pad-a-cheek

My best bud wore a CPAP for several years. He was 70lbs overweight.
Last year he went on Ozempia and lost 60lbs. Since then he has been able to discontinue the CPAP.
Seems like an awful exercise to have to go through just to sleep at night.
It's better than the potential alternative, lol

Just one more item to spend money on. Overall, any leakage is just when I put to much side pressure on my mask. My issue is simply to much rubbing on the bridge of my nose which gets irritated. It takes me perhaps ten minutes to cut the thin rectangular moleskin pads down to the right size then I have a fresh one each day for 24 days for cheap.

I have none of these issues, using the ResMed nasal pillows. Maybe it's me but, the machine seems to shut off the breathing through my mouth unless I force it open - like to talk. Closes nice to my nose - no leakage unless I force it aside. I am a side sleeper too, but have no hose/nose issues rolling over to the other side. It definitely gets me into a deep(er) sleep, and rarely get up to pee in the night.

In reviewing the data on my Resmed 11, it indicates that during the last sleep episode (8.5 hours), I had one apnea episode. During my sleep test, I had 26 PER HOUR! Guess it’s working. (y)

Super good!

Side sleeper here also. Its a rare occurrence that the hose tangles or disconnects on my bipap.
Mine came with three sizes of pillows and choosing the right size makes a big difference in the seal.
