I purchased A 5' Covington Cutter. The problem is that There is no slip clutch or shear bolt arrangement on the drive shaft. Is this safe? The cutter has a 1 3/8 spline shaft as does the tractor.
I have an old Covington cutter that I junked a few years ago. It also had no gearbox protection. I used it for about 25 years and cut many 2"-3" sapplings and never hurt the cutter or the tractor(s). I'm not saying this is the wise way to go, but just my experience.
