im sure alot of you will disagree with me but one thing i always did with my bx was get all 4 tires off the ground. Use the front loader to raise the front end up and the outriggers to raise the rear up and start digging. I still do that sometimes with the b3030 when the ground is hard or im really trying to pull on something. i tried the park brake method and its just not strong enough to do what i needed.
the toothbar on the front would really make that thing plant in the ground.
my first project was 400 + foot of seprtic line so by the end of day one i was comfortable. i started out running mine at about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle then would work it up as i felt things were going to slow.

I've never tried a BX24 but getting at least the rear wheels off the ground on level surface is the most secure way to go IMO - all four with that light a tractor "balancing" on the loader should be nice too Would it also slow down the controls to have oil pumped out to the loader? I don't know, but maybe.

Even the big guys take a scrape or two off the top in hard surfaces - it's easier on equipment to start a dig that way.

400+ foot of septic line?? Man, that's a LONG ways from the loo! :D
Was that leachline out to a leachfield from a tank, or are you talking about multiple systems? Just curious, don't think I can imagine a need for so much septic piping.

Why would they disagree on all 4 off the ground ?? if you goto the Kubota.com you will see pics of them doing that .... I just got my BX24 4 weeks back WOW I love this thing! i am getting a thumb this week $290.+35.00.shipping I am going to start a small Business TINYTRACTORSERVICE

i started my business with my bx23 so good luck man, you will find people will laugh at you when you pull up then be amazed at what little orange can do. Im in the middle of a job right now i really wish i still had that sucker, i can bearly move in this yard with the b3030.
when i got my b3030 i was asking why it looked like the 3030 was not off the ground when the BH was being used and was told that most operators set the riggers and the brake. i tried that did not work worth a you knwo what, so now all 4 are in the air most of the time.
i still have not bought a thumb for either unit but i did build a sweet tooth bar and i suggest that to you as soon as possible, you wont belive how well it diggs with the bar. you might also consider a grade blade for the BH, another creation of mine but works great.

That's nothing! The house we're building is going to have 1200 feet of line from the septic tank to the drainfield. That is where the good soil is so we don't have much of a choice.

that septic system is why the bx landed on my property in the first place, day one was after work and me thinking "i hope i can do this back hoe thing". the guy who owned my house had some interesting ideas about septic repair, like the one of going to the first distribution box and sticking a 200 foot long piece of flexible drain pipe in it and allowing the $h!* to flow through it instead of fixing the 100' long clogged up pipe. All together i ran about 600 feet of pipe from that distribution box into the drain field.
All this was after months of digging by hand to figure out where this corrigated pipe came from since it was layed out around trees and no where near any kind of stright line. My soil is sticky clay and large sandstone, so you can imagine how happy I was to get the hoe and go. 1200' of tight line sounds like fun, i might suggest a thing i built, its a 20" blade that chains onto the BH bucket, makes a clean bottom and is great for pulling the soil back into the hole w/o tearing up the grass. let me know if your interested i will get you some pics and help ya put it all together.

that was tight line and all for the first run of new lines in the leach field, i added another 200 feet later just to be on the safe side. I dont know if what i did was exactly right but the stinch is gone from the yard, i have no soggy septic spots, and i dont think with all that i ran i should have to worry about it anymore. I found out the other day i can get my waste water permit from a family friend who teaches the corse for the state. i did do a couple things wrong but they were not any huge deal acording to him. The problem is my ground will not hardly perk and i did not want to spend the bank for an anarobic system, that combined with years of neglect and poor design. Have you ever tried to find any detailed info on septic system layout on the net? i did and it was useless other than very basic systems.
