We traced it back to a sheriff's sale in the late 1800s.

Nice old log home. I can't imagine why anyone would want to cover that
with aluminum siding.

Neither could we. The inside had horse hair plaster walls, in relatively good shape, covered with cheap paneling. Sigh.
