I have not seen 5030 post for a week. I sent him a PM yesterday but no response yet. He is a fellow Michigander who farms in southern MI. He believed he was relatively safe on his farm, and maybe he is out doing his thing; but it is not normal for him to be silent this long.

He is a high risk individual as he was/is undergoing cancer treatment. And southern MI is one of the hot spots....so hoping that he and his family are riding this out OK.
His last post with 3/25 in the afternoon.

Not sure what your source is but there are things here that make no sense at all. For starters, you are talking about treatment in the pre antibiotic era, before WWII, but you mention that studies showed an increase in 哲K cells. NK cells were not even discovered until the 1970痴, 30-35 years after we routinely used antibiotics in treatment of pneumonia. What is your source? I hope it痴 not the well known bozo Dr Google.
Sorry. Yes i've done a poor job of putting down what was on the video. The pre antibiotic era treatments were during the civil war. The studies of increase of natural killer cells were done much later. I don't recall his name being Dr Google.

Pentagon Orders Bases to Stop Reporting Coronavirus Numbers as Cases Surge | Military.com
Wrong answer...especially in peace time!
I was in the Navy for about 10 years...served on the USS Saratoga and USS Inchon.
Unlike a cruise ship, crewmembers are berthed in very close quarters....not staterooms. There may be as many as 100 personnel on a berthing compartment, normally two or three racks high and, if an adjacent berth, only a opaque curtain separates shipmates. A breeding ground for rapid transmission of a contagious disease.
If this had happened in war time, this risk may have been acceptable...but we're not at war.
So, you guys criticizing that skipper don't know what the **** you're writing about...do you? Would you like to write those letters to the husbands, wives or parents of the men and women who died?

The Captain of a Carrier that has a panic attack over a virus is unfit to command and should be relieved of duty immediately. If I am not mistaken, none of the crew has died. I doubt many of the crew are "high risk". He is not commanding a retirement home.

FYI...You do not get to be the captain of a nuclear aircraft carrier by being a fly off the handle dumbass...exactly what are your credentials to question or second guess a high ranking military commander ???

No Captain is comfortable going to war with an exponentially increasingly disabled crew. He made the correct call while he still could.

Defense sec. Issued a press statement last Friday. No numbers.
Still a wrong answer...that skipper reported the issue before this directive (linked) was issued. He also already had personnel showing symptoms and, apparently confirmed cases...
IMHO, as a Navy veteran, the captain did the right thing

First...I was commenting on what another poster suggested motived the Captain...panic.

Second...there is a chain of command....that does not include the media.

We didn't defeat The Axis with rubber gloves, paper masks and tape on floors.
Pretty sure we beat the Axis because we could out produce them. I think if we can get our act together and figure out how to safely reuse things that are now single use until production catches up, we'll beat this too.
Come on folks, we are still clever people !

I miss the good old days when Greta Thunberg was telling us we're all going to die. !

Actually the Japanese did. Things were developed in their famous 731 lab.
And the Chinese paid most of the price then.
Horrible stuff people do to people.

Have you noticed how many guys here haven't grasped the concept of hunkering down at home? Kind of scary given that a lot of us are 60 plus and some have health issues. Trips to walmart and the farm store and 4 grocery stores and the gas station. To me it looks like every trip from home is another chance to be exposed. I guess that is OK if you have seen enough of this earth and you are right with God.

Chris

I'm 60+ and work one of the essential jobs, so that people like you can stay home. I haven't missed a day of work since this chaos started. My nephew just won a Tshirt(I SURVIVED CORONAVIRUS). Got out of the hospital today.

Thursday morning report from FORTRESS TASMANIA (Hey, we've got a moat!). Aus is now at 21 deaths, no new cases reported yesterday in Tassie. All's quiet although I did have a conversation with my Chief, down in Hobart, regarding Navy Reserve call-up. Basically, I'm on the list and could be required = stand-by.

We had an alert from the Tas Gov that 2 tourists had tested positive and that they'd been on a bus tour around Tassie during March. Stops included Pyengana and a couple of places in St Helens so now we're on heightened alert for symptoms around the Shire.

-----------------------------------

No real news on my Aunt on the MS ZAANDAM. they're scheduled to arrive off of Broward County, Florida, on their 2 Apr. @ 0800. She's still locked down in her internal cabin. Apparently, Holland-America Line is trying to charter flights to return passengers to their homelands. No news of any additional cases or deaths onboard.

It was mentioned in Trumps daily virus news conference. He said something would be done on a humanitarian basis. He mentioned Canada and other countries called in to repatriate their non USA citizens. I would assume the Aunt was included. Apparently a large percentage on the boat are US citizens.
