That's a dumb headline. There will be an economic and future impact of the virus on a society no matter what approach they take or how good/bad their results. There is no way to escape an impact.

Yes they could have added Today at the end. Keep in mind headlines are not to impart useful info but to get the readers to read the first line of the body of the article.

At this point the economy is moot...economic news is just unnecessary clutter IMO...

Perhaps ...

OTOH, the economy represents the ongoing efforts to service and meet the necessities of life for Americans, and probably to a lesser extent, their wants (not actually needed, just desired) ... and it will be interesting to see HOW it transforms itself to do that.

There are several addresses in my general area where the GPS powers that be think lie at my doorstep for some reason or another.

Today a guy in a van shows up looking for one of them (happens fairly regularly)

Turns out he was trying to deliver a food order ... from a small local fresh fruit/vegetable/deli market ...

I doubt that service existed to any real extent 2 months ago ... but I suspect business may be booming now.

Thanks for that link. Sweden is a horse of a different color leaving the decisions to the health care team instead to those that seek office.

Case to be made for both approaches, advantages and pitfalls with either I suspect.

Probably will get a good airing out in the not-too-distant future I'd imagine.

Panic buying in a normally well-stocked Gothenburg-supermarket resulting in a toilet paper shortage

Ok, so it is not just Americans, that panic over the toilet paper thing... hmmm

IMO...I think that the blame China must face for not being transparent and allowing the spread of the virus...we (The US) should send them a bill that will negate the $1.7 trillion of US debt they are holding...!

We cannot piss them off until we are ready to produce the items we need. Why do you think Trump is playing nice....for now?

And if we send a bill they will not pay it anyway.

The Axis didn't employ biological warfare IIRC.

I was going to point that out but you beat me to it. There also were a lot of sacrifices on the home front during those times, just as we are making now. Is it worth it? All that I know is that dieing from some stupid virus isn't on my list of things I had planned for the year.

@Island Tractor...
They are saying that 1 in 4 that test positive do not show any symptoms or extremely mild symptoms...would these patients not have stronger antibodies that could be used to possibly develop a treatment that is more effective than the antibodies left in patients with more severe symptoms...?

Interesting question but unfortunately no...you don't have any antibodies at all for about almost a week or so after initial infection. The body then generates IgM antibody and later, about 2-3 weeks after infection, we generate IgG antibody. The antibodies that can be harvested from recovered patients are IgG antibodies. There are some viral diseases where those convalescent antibodies are quite effective in preventing or even treating bad viral infections. You may recall thirty years ago we used to get "gammaglobulin" shots before going overseas where there might be exposure to hepatitis. Same thing.

It's like one of those 50s B movies:

"The Bug That Ate Their Brains!!"
