That's why all this panic is so silly. That magic number/percentage the fear mongers keep spreading is very likely well under a half percent.

Just curious....at what point does this become a real issue? It seems to be getting more real from my perspective each day.

Seasonal flu is an all human virus. The DNA/RNA chains that make up the virus are recognized by the human immune system. This means that your body has some immunity...

Novel viruses, come from animals.... once one of these animal viruses mutates, and starts to transfer from animals to humans... the virus isnt human, and the human immune system doesnt recognize it so, we cant fight it off...

More reading - An article said don't take ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil) for Coronavirus because some anti-inflammatory drugs reduce resistance to disease.

But paracetamol (acetaminophen, Tylenol) can be helpful.

Reading farther to verify this, BBC clarifies:

The NHS website previously recommended both paracetamol and ibuprofen, but has since changed its advice to say that while "there is currently no strong evidence that ibuprofen can make coronavirus (Covid-19) worse... until we have more information, take paracetamol to treat the symptoms of coronavirus, unless your doctor has told you paracetamol is not suitable for you.

Once again, due to the time zone differences, I can't keep up with the plethora of postings from the N.A. members...

Into town today (Wednesday is mail/groceries/petrol, etc, day). There's a 'black water' dump station on the way, caravans and RVs sometime camp there overnight, and it was so packed that rigs were parked on the road. I don't know what that was all about as practically all festivals have shut down or cancelled. I guess that 'camping' is going to be the predominate vacation whilst quarantining (14 days) yourself.

Petrol has come down by 5 cents since a week ago. Distillate remains high at A$1.56 per litre... Hey, it's Tassie and we're an island. Not much we can do about that.

The town itself was bustling. I did approach the grocery (a large IGA) with a bit of trepidation, what with all of the reported shelf-clearing... but, not to worry. Yes, there was a few shortages but nothing was cleared out. OK, only two varieties of toilet paper but there was plenty of what was on offer (quality stuff, and I didn't need any TP anyway) so it was only a matter of stocking and supply. I was able to get everything on my list for the week, including wet & dry cat food + litter.

There were a few more shoppers than usual; felt a bit like a day before Christmas. No big queues at the checkout and everyone was pleasant.

It appears that these reported shelf-clearing kerfuffles are happening in the cities and their related suburbs. I have heard that city/suburb people are now travelling to small towns to do their shopping. Fortunately, St Helens is 2 hours (one way) from the big-smoke of Launceston.

Today, the Federal Government has issued a travel advisory not to travel anywhere outside of Australia (including NZ). No 'overseas' visitors. Australians who are overseas are advised to return to Aus NOW. 14 days self-imposed quarantine once they do return. Cruise ships are banned for at least the next 30 days (Tassie has gone the next 3 months for cruise ships). Virgin Australia (airline) has ceased all international flights. QANTAS has grounded 3/4's of their international flights.

Your doing good. Keeping up. I like to hear about what's happening down there. Daughter is working some farm jobs down there, seems to be doing OK. Was in Darwin, now I forget where. She is in the Northern Territory somewhere. Says it's brutally humid and hot. I thought you all were heading towards fall?

I wake up every morning more stressed and anxious about this than I was the day before. To make matters worse, I'm home with our two little boys and need to focus on them and not let it affect my mood with them. My wife is a pharmacist and goes in every day to one of the last major opened retailers in our area. I can't believe I, too, brushed this off a mere month or so ago. It's like living a nightmare every day with no end in sight. I know it will eventually end, but at what cost and how long.

I get that. I also think that all of this isn't really working to curb the spread. I just worry about those being a novel virus, mutating again and then we're facing another monster. Maybe that one won't spare the young and healthy. My wife, who is very level headed and scientific about all of this says that's the only major concern she has over this.

The best thing we can do is stay CALM, stop watching the mainstream news and go about our lives like we normally do. We live in the safest time in the history of the world.

I get that. I also think that all of this isn't really working to curb the spread.

That could be the apparency ... since an unknown number of asymptomatic positives out in the environment will infect others and eventually convert to having symptoms at some point (numbers will rise but should eventually flatten out and then fall)

But the truth is, we'll never know for certain how many cases were prevented due to the actions taken.

I just worry about those being a novel virus, mutating again and then we're facing another monster. Maybe that one won't spare the young and healthy. My wife, who is very level headed and scientific about all of this says that's the only major concern she has over this.

To be clear, that my quote "in quotes" is in response to some deniers. The administration is sending a message that "normal" is not normal in these times and to start taking precautions.
