Considering L4060 GST

Will look at a Kubota L4060 GST tomorrow, 300 hours, one owner. Also looking at a dealer trade in MX5400 HST, both have standard loaders, MX has grapple, box blade and brush cutter all 6 ft medium duty models.

I see that there is only 5 hp difference in PTO hp, 34 for 4060 and 39 for 5400. I have no experience with glide shift, but seems pretty straight forward. 4060 is 2017 year model, 5400 is 2020. Just a few pounds difference in weight, 4060 at 3748 pounds and 5400 at 3737 lbs

Will 6 ft brush cutter, box blade, and disc harrow work equally well on either tractor?

Leaning toward the MX if price is reasonable, seller with 4060 is also brush hog dealer, said he would do a package deal on implements.

I'm sure 6' implements would be fine on either tractor. The L4060 will have a few more bells and whistles, but most of those are HST+ and cab features. I believe the electronic dash will be more detailed also.
How many hours on the 2020 MX ? I would be curious why it was traded in so soon.

Tough call,the Grand L will have a lot of nice features but the MX is physically bigger with larger tires.I really like the HST+.Either one will handle six ft. implements.

The GST transmission is a different animal from the more common Grand L HST+ with the Hi/Lo feature. I like the Grand L bells and whistles, particularly the suspension seat over the base seats on the standard L or MX. I am getting older and like my creature comforts. Messiks has some nice videos demo-ing these models and features.

Taking the MX 5400 option, all implements are new, 15 months remaining on factory warranty, I like the feel of the tractor, the weight , tires, and overall dimensions of the tractor, the whole pkg fits my new property and the projects I have planned. Having the HST vs the GST was a big factor. This will be my 4th tractor to have purchased from this dealer, plus 3 RTV and implements the last 10 years. They have a great reputation and have always been fair and responsive to my needs. The MX pkg was purchased by a person with a lot of heavy wooded property that needed extensive clearing, it was not the best tool for the job, traded it in on a commercial grade wheeled loader and implements. Dealer is going over the tractor and all hydraulics and doing an oil change before they deliver.

You've mistated the PTO power of the 5400. It's 46.5 HP, not 39. The 5400 is substantially more powerful than the 4060. The 4060 though has other nice things. I have a 5400 and love it.
