Considering grey tractor with loader

rlee6,

I won't attempt to answer for Buck, but my opinion is: Any Tractor is forever as long as there is still parts support. Some are 50-60 years old and parts are still available. Antique models may not have support from a retailer but many tractor salvage yards keep everything and not much goes to scrap or crusher.

Abuse and neglect will eventually destroy any model, but even then it takes quite a while. Not so with a car or truck.
You can store a diesel tractor for 10 years, and with fresh fuel and a battery, expect it to start everytime.

Tractors were (and still are) a big investment, and the average owner expects it to last a long time, and they do with routine maintenance.

If you reach that point with a Yanmar from us or one of the other quality dealers, you may well be the first. First, the level of wear and tear on the ones these dealers sell is truly minimal. Second, they are very rebuildable. Now you may encounter a catastrophic loss (ie., it rolls over a cliff, or something incredibly bizarre happens to destroy numerous major mechanical parts at once), but wearing it out is not on the menu.

Thanks for the replies. I am better prepared now to buy a used tractor.

I purchsed my Mitsubishi D-2050 from Wayne Wicker Tractors in Leesburg so far I've been happy with it. I haven't needed any service other than filters etc which he has in stock. I think I got a fair deal from him and he seems real helpful. Just my .02 worth. daveh1 D-2050 4' brush cutter, BB, carry-all and Honda Rancher 4wd /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I bought a Zen-Noh 1501 two years ago and used it for a full summer finish cutting my fields and sold it last year for $800 more than I paid for it. It was the equal to the Kubota L-185 so I purchased the operator's manual and parts manual and bought parts at the Kubota dealer by part number. No problem at all. Great tractor but a bit small so I bought a used Kubota B2410 with 4WD and ROP which the ZN 1501 did not have. I am staying with Kubota from now on. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thank you all, especially for the local vendor information. There is a local tractor auction. I will see what I can find there first. If I don't find one that fits my need and pocket, I will consider grey.
