Well, I gave it a few whacks with a hammer today then tightened the nut. After working for a bit longer, I got some more but since then it’s been pretty much solid. I guess the bolt has just been finding its home. Thanks for all the input guys!

It's a sign the soft nut is yielding. Replace it with the factory nut or grade 8 and torque to spec.

Thanks dado. I have one coming from the manufacturer so I’ll be getting it swapped out.

It may have been. But with him using the technique of tapping on it and tightening he probably has the joint socked up tight. Still, drawing it in with proper tension would yield a slightly different, elastically stretched, loaded zone. Proper tension, torque, is not speced though. Who knows how far its needed to go. 🤔
