Compression Springs

I am looking for a compression spring for putting a wheel on the end of a gate to ensure that the wheel is always in contact with the ground. Was thinking of puttin it on a piece of 1" or 1 1/2 " pipe. Anyone know of any old machines to get one of tese off

Don't know about Ireland. Here most well stocked hardware stores will keep an assortment of springs, both compression and tension.

Go to a scrap/junk yard and get a front shock from a motorcycle. weld a wheel on the bottom and attach the to as needed. It will work great!!
