Compact Utility Market Share Numbers - Anybody have Facts or Guesses?

As Neil at Messick's states, brands only know their own numbers. But there is some talk between folks that know from different brands and I suspect each major player has worked out a chart that is pretty close. And as he said, if you cross the 50% mark, you know you have attained number one without doubt. Those are amazing numbers really.

I do not think anyone will argue against the fact that Kubota is the leader in the USA by quite a margin, then JD follows. Mahindra is confident they are third and have been for a couple of years. But in fairness, the gap between second and third is still significant I think.

And if JD were to join the conversation, they could talk total dollar sales in the USA, or larger tractors, or combines and show us the categories for which they are number one. Just as MUSA advertises #1 in the world by brand for certain HP ranges. It's all how you count, what you count and where you count. But for the USA, for compacts, it's Kubota.

I believe it. There's a huge 3rd world market for small tractors. I found a number of different references for that and apparently they have factory capacity to build over 150,000 tractors a year.

Yes, as of just a couple years ago. NH isn't as focused on CUTS as they once were, and Mahindra pushed hard into that market. For a couple of years NH dealers were having a hard time even getting much in the way of CUTS, and that was the break Mahindra needed I think. Now if you compare NH specialty tractors (vineyard, orchard, etc) to Mahindra, you will find that NH sells a bunch and Mahindra sells about zero. But TBN is primarily a website for owners of CUTS/SCUTS and small utility tractors and in this category in the USA Mahindra does indeed outsell NH, Massey and all others except for Kubota and JD. It is surely an accomplishment.

Wow, that is impressive. Mahindra should put that in bold type in their ads (I could care less how many tractors they sell worldwide). Seems like Kioti is growing pretty well too. John Deere and Kubota should be hearing footsteps....

I doubt that Mahindra is large because of domestic sales. India as a government and Mahindra as a Company believe in Export.

Jeff, how many of those 1.25 billion people do you believe can afford or need a tractor?? India is a very poor country in regards to their population. Few have much. Many have little.
