Collar Shift Conversion

I have a model 4200 with collar shift and would like to investigate converting it to a syncro shift style transmission. Has anyone made the conversion or have any technical information pertaining to the conversion?
I have already done the clutch upgrade and it still isn’t well suited to the way I use the tractor.

Was the snycro tranny version a purchase option (upgrade) available with the 4200 model?

If that's the case, I would venture that a visit to www.JDParts.com for an exploded view (and pricing-cost estimates) of the snycromesh transmission for your 4200 model tractor would be a good investment of some of your time.

I'd be surprised (but I've been wrong many times before...) if you could simply purchase the brass snycro clusters and install them onto the shafts and drive gears of your current transmission.

Most likely it will require you to swap out the whole tuna!
