Recently my B7300 starts very hard when cold. I give it 4-8 seconds of glow plug before starting, but to no avail. Is there a easy way to check for bad glow plugs ? What else should I look for ? Thanks, Tim

I count to 20 when it's below zero, admittedly a different tractor but you might try longer.

I have owned this tractor several years and never had these starting issues using my current technique. Something has changed ??

Try a search for glow plug problems. Fairly recently someone had a hard starting issue and discovered that not all of the plugs were glowing.
If you can find the post, he explained how he diagnosed the problem with a meter.

A good glow plug should test about 1 Ohm when cold. 0 Ohms is a dead short, infinite Ohm is an open.

Not sure what new glo plugs cost but you can get a very good magnetic block heater at tractor supply for $50. Just an idea.

If this is a sudden change I would bet it is a glow plug problem. Very simple to diagnose.:)

It sure sounds like a glow plug problem;
is the preheat circuit part of the starter switch fusing?

Hey let's help this guy out!Two days now and nobody has given enough advice.OK,his glow plugs seem to be not working as his starting technique has not changed.No offence to previous posters!Winter is coming big time to Wisconsin right now!Can we help him out with discussions about ignition switch,glow plug relays,removing the bus bar to check glow plug resistance,etc.Thanks!

Longer on the glow plug is correct. I have a B1750 and have to wait 15-20 seconds in the summer, hence tractor is in the garage druing the winter.

I found mine to have a bad contactor in the key switch~ Glow plugs were fine, just not getting the current they needed. I will be adding relay for glow plugs and starter so all the current is not going thru the key switch!
