Cold hands

I use a close fitting goatskin glove like Justin. Then over that I pull on another glove for warmth, lined or unlined. I can get alot of close work done with just the goatskin gloves.

Cabelas offers a nice selection of liner gloves, link below. I always liner glovesthese under a heavy, gortex outer glove or mit. Keeping your hands dry is very important so I always try to have a spare pair of liner gloves and over gloves close by to swap out if one pair gets wet. The liner gloves have a lot of dexterity so you can keep them on while doing delicate tasks.

I have bit of wisdom pasted on to me from my days winter mountaineering. It really helps keep the feet and hands warm.

If your feet/hands are cold, put on a hat. If your hands/feet are still cold put on a warmer hat.

I know, "but my head is warm". That is because the body will provide for the brain first, hence the warm head, and the feet and hands last, hence the cold feet/hands. Try it it works.
Gloves? I like layers. Thin liners and then a glove or mitten over that. Really cold, subzero, add a shell over the liner/glove package.

Keep your core temperature up and your hand and feet will not get cold. It also takes your body about three days to get used to the cold. It will adapt.

Also, if you're in the habit of eating a big meal before you go out, you will always feel colder. Drinking water seems to help too.

Years ago I had a pair of military "mittens" that had a wool liner, but with a separate trigger finger and a leaather gauntlet type shell in the same arrangement. There may also have been a thin silk undermitten--same trigger finger arrangement--but I might have bought that on my own, probably from LL Bean. They were also available in a surplus full mitten/liner combo without the separate finger.

The way the mitten was you could put your hand in with the four fingers in the mitten and trigger finger separate or put all fingers into the mitten portion. It worked wonderful and I used them for decades in a very cold climate. Actually, they were so great I think I still have a nearly new pair tucked in a drawer and not useful in my new warmer climate.

This.

Outdoor Research makes a modernized version of the trigger mitten. But you can buy the milsurp ones of ebay for $25.
