Not sure if any of you are contemplating upgrading, repairs or changing your pt hydraulics but Bailey has some useful discounts on components...

https://www.baileyhydraulics.com/products/clearance

grabbed a 2 spool joystick valve and selector for pretty cheap...

Happy new year
Andrew

Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered a selector valve for a little less than I've seen it elsewhere.

This might be batter placed in the hydraulic forum.

Thank you, found a joystick to convert my old JD loader from 2 stick in closeout for 1/2 price . Customer service was excellent in helping me determine which unit I needed.

My joysticks, manual selectors and rotary selectors averaged 40%off. Shipping was reasonable and really fast.

For power-trac owners... This is a cheap path to select the quick attach or grapple function... Instead of moving those quick disconnects under pressure...

Ordered Wednesday afternoon , valve was at my house when I got home yesterday.

Got my valve yesterday. 2days. ;)

I did have to call in my order. Couldn't get the online cart to accept my card. Same card went through fine over the phone and shipping was 4 bucks less than online calculation.

I have already installed mine. Works like a champ. Did have to make 2 trips to town for fittings but all total I have 200.00 in a joystick conversion. I am tickled

agjones -

I'm mostly ignorant when it comes to hydraulics but willing to learn if it could simplify the QA/Grapple process.

Can you specify what I'd need to do what you refer to?

- 2 spool joystick valve (I see there are 1, 3 and 4 spool also but not sure what the differences are)
- Selector (Manaul and rotory) do you need both or each performs a different function?
- Do GPM and PSI have to be matched to the machine (mine is a PT-425)

I probably don't know enough to even be asking the right questions so your input would be much appreciated.

Thanks - Andy

Hey Andy - great questions... Pretty much the same starting place as me... I was flat footed on hydraulics when I bought my pt 425.

There's a ton of ways to do this... I'll start a new thread and reference another one that covered the cheapest way to do this upgrade a few years ago... Things have changed...

The core of the solution is a selector valve, a six port one will let you choose which of 2 connected cylinders is actuated when you move the controlling lever.

Of the options in the Bailey clearance, 220962, is in my opinion the simplest way...

Details in a separate thread... I'll try to post tonight...

Thanks again for posting this Andrew. As I had mentioned, I was just shopping for two 2"x24" welded cylinders when you put this on TBN. I had in fact even looked at Bailey's but for whatever reason the closeout cylinders didn't show up when I searched their store the first time.

The best deal I could find ( and what I was going to order) was $118 each including shipping ( $236 total). The ones I ordered from Bailey's came out to $158.66!!! I'll take a 33% discount any day!!!!!

You bet Darryl. Glad it's helpful. Shipping can be rough on hydraulics these guys are fair and really helpful when you have questions in my experience.

Indeed!! I got free shipping (arrived in 2 days), no tax and at check out they gave me an additional $15.50 (9% off) that I wasn't expecting. I have shopped Bailey's for years but never bought from them, I always ended up buying from Surplus Center, Ebay, Maxim, etc.. I am SOOO pleased with the deal I got from them!!
