CK2610 Folding Grill Guard Advantage?

I'm going to install a mesh grill guard while the tractor is still new, per advice/reminders on the forum. There are some nice designs shown on the forum, many maintaining the ability to fold down the grill guard. I'm not seeing any true advantage of folding, and am thinking of just replacing the existing with a fixed frame guard.

My question is simple- Is the purpose of the grill folding simply to allow the hood to be opened on certain models (not mine)? Does it serve any other functionality for maintenance, etc. such that the folding capability should be maintained?

Just want to make sure I'm not missing something as usual. Thanks, toukow

Wanting to do the same with mine. I haven't found a need for it folding down. I'm thinking if it's in the way, there are only four easy to reach bolts that hold it on. I have been considering just screening the existing guard so it doesn't fold anymore. Why buy another one?

Thanks for the comment. I was going to just modify the existing, but had seen other designs which may give better protection like this one (sorry, don't know who the original poster was to give credit). Seemed easier to just weld up a complete unit without trying to integrate to the round tube factory grill guard. Or I'm just over-thinking the situation as usual.......Thanks, Toukow
