CK 30
I love my CK30 I wish I would have bought it 10 years ago. I have one big complant though the roll bar is to high, it could easily be 6 in. lower.
I hit tree's barn doors and in the woods it is down right dangerous, I can't believe it couldn't be 6 in. lower. Has anyone dropped there's down or does anyone else have this problem.

They are high. I just watch out for the limbs and will lower it when it needs to go into a building. I guess they use one roll bar for several tractors. I have never measured to see if during a roll over how much clearance your head would have when the tractor would be resting on the hood and roll bar.

I had my ROPS cut 11inch when the tractor was new, that way i don't have to lower the rops to get the tractor in the garage. :D

I cut those 8 inches out of the bottom of my rollbar, added the reinforcement to the bottom of the modified rollbar that was part of the removed section, redrilled and reinstalled. Works much better now around and under the Apple trees. (CK20HST) Fred

I think I will replace mine with one made from soft rubber that way when I hit something with it it will just spring out of the way and snap back up.

Be sure to put that little squeeky valve in them so you will know when you roll over.

An earlier post about this said that the ROPS are required by some sort of regulation to be X inches higher than the highest point on the tractor. With the BH seat on, the rops is the right height, but alas, it's too high for the regular seat and guys like us hit barn doors etc.

I'd love to cut mine down just 6 inches but I don't have the welding skill.

I believe they are designed to prevent the tractor from rolling all the way over. They are made long to act as an outrigger in the event that you do flop it on it's side. But if you think you know more than the designers........:confused3:

That's always a "safe" answer. By that line of thinking, there is nothing that could ever be poorly designed on a machine. The engineers are people too and are likely to make mistakes from time to time.

You for got to say; "Hold my beer and watch this!"

Why would I say that?

Hey Bubba! Hold my beer and watch this!
It is famous redneck saying, normally said just before something goes terribly wrong. With any luck it is caught on video.
These guys have been designing tractors for years and to think you guys can out design them is comical. These roll cages have been designed to minimize the chance that the tractor can build enough momentum to go completely over. But youtube is famous for people thinking they know better. I like watching, not participating!

My thought in regards to cutting 8 inchs out of my rollbar was it would be a heck of a lot better modified than utilizing the function of folding the bar down that those "Engineers" designed into it. Fred

This shows they were smart enough to know that we need to be able to get them in the garage!

I resemble that remark! I are an engineer. Me Make mistakes? they are called oversights in the trade.
