County on 100 acres.
Sounds very familiar Moss. I was the youngest of four kids. My parents bought their first riding Snapper mower a couple of weeks after I went off to college. My dad just grinned when I first saw it.
I recall only 2 people having riding mowers on that block growing up. My folks got the 3rd one after I moved out. Why have a rider when you have a child to push a mower?

City limits encroached on my moms' place in the country. It was quiet when she moved there. She passed away and the land is now covered with condos. I took my wife on a tour of the town once. "that subdivision is where I used to ride my bicycle off road. That one over there is where we rode our horses. That one is where our barn and pasture was". After a while it got too depressing.
Where we are now is much too far away for city limits to reach us. The minimum lot size for subdividing is 20 acres.

Yeah! I left, they bought a riding mower with leaf sweeper, snow blower and plow blade, a walk-behind snow blower, a snow plow for their land cruiser, a leaf blower..... man!!!!

Santa Cruz mountains can be very remote... friends live off-grid 7 miles from paved road...
Totally isolated but the rural telephone act got them dail tone in 1970

5.5 acres in the county, couple of small towns 4 miles in several directions.
My sisters and I grew up on about 8 acres of forested mountainside near Bellingham. Only one lives in a city, my little sister is on 5 acres of the Kitsap peninsula, and my oldest sister is a farmer on about 250 acres of the Skagit valley.

County about 45 minutes to town. I rarely see or hear my neighbors. Though i did heard one shooting metal target a few days ago. A soft clang clang in the distance, he's a good shot, actually he's pretty good at whatever he does.
