City or County... Where do you Tractor?

Might not be universal but we have Charter and Incorporated Cities which are carved out of counties... Cities come with another layer of laws and regs on top counties.

County may have Sheriff Departments and city Police Departments.

Of course some cities grow so big they encompass the entire county... case in point City and County of San Francisco.

The reason asked is curiosity because when I read posts clearing land, timber, farming... it is hard to relate when I need a formal permit with public hearing over 6 weeks to remove a single planted Walnut Tree or having LEO called because I am Brush Hogging the back 20...

Are you so country you never vote? Counties typically have their own form of government elected by citizens of that county. Sheriff is just one of the offices. There's judges, commissioners and a treasurer. All this governing typically takes place in the county seat courthouse.

Not many people are fortunate enough to live in a town that is in 3 different counties.

The town is in three counties but the residents live in what ever county their home is located. They don't live in three different counties. :laughing: It's just how the crazy town of Lytle was laid out and the formation of counties later. The town used to be located between two creeks about a mile from me. After a flood in the 1800's wiped it out, it was moved to it's present location near the railroad tracks. Remains of the old stone school building are still at the old site.

Nobody around here has ever referred to where we live as "county" as people on here are describing. We aren't part of or on the outskirts of anything. We're just out in the country. Of course I'm familiar with the county sheriff, etc. There is no township, borough, town cops, etc though. It's either the sheriff or State Police. Either one is about 20 minutes or more away.

County. Thinking it would be very rare (luxury) to have enough land in the city requiring a tractor to reside on it. Dirt bigger than a postage stamp probably has one tree on surrounded by hard pavement. A weedwacker will do. :laughing:

Only large unpaved patches would be maybe a park (public), or a gravel commercial parking lot. Grounds maintenance would be hired out... no? Private unpaved grounds... not seeing it. Ultra, you are definitely in rare territory! :thumbsup:
