City or County... Where do you Tractor?

What is this "county" vs city anyway? Do you mean country? Never heard of rural living referred to as county before.

Might not be universal but we have Charter and Incorporated Cities which are carved out of counties... Cities come with another layer of laws and regs on top counties.

County may have Sheriff Departments and city Police Departments.

Of course some cities grow so big they encompass the entire county... case in point City and County of San Francisco.

The reason asked is curiosity because when I read posts clearing land, timber, farming... it is hard to relate when I need a formal permit with public hearing over 6 weeks to remove a single planted Walnut Tree or having LEO called because I am Brush Hogging the back 20...

County about 45 minutes to town. I rarely see or hear my neighbors. Though i did heard one shooting metal target a few days ago. A soft clang clang in the distance, he's a good shot, actually he's pretty good at whatever he does.

We hear shooting often.
- West of us is a private shooting range and a skeet club.
- East of us is South Bend, IN.

City of Cincinnati on school campus, early tractoring was in the country

I have relatives in St. Bernard, Elmwood, Sayler Park, and up in Sharonville. I've always liked that town. I'd like to see Red's game again.

25 acres in the county. 10 miles from town. Around here "county" refers to anything outside of the city's jurisdiction.

City in an area that was once the outskirts.

County on a state route about 3.5 miles outside of a town of about 3500 people. A lot of "ranchettes" and home acreage parcels popping up all around. I still maintain a shooting range but haven't used it since my operations two years ago. We have garbage service but burn our paper, wood and brush trash. We just went under a burn-ban a few weeks ago due to the dry conditions. Burning in a barrel is still allowed. I like it out here but I need to get some work done on the 1/4-mile dirt "driveway". :ashamed:

It can get interesting when rural county and city meet.

Brothers place is just outside city line and new multi million dollar homes have gone in the last two years and those paying big money for upscale city homes on city lots don't care to have a tractor tilling the soil or burns... etc., with hunting being the worst.

Both. We have 1.5 acres in town & 60 miles away is the farm of 40 acres.
