Talking with my Beemerville buddy, I told him that I felt bad about missing a buy on a Wallenstein chipper. He said, "Oh, a chuck and duck?"

Wondering if you guys ever heard it called that?

I believe "Chuck and Duck" is a reference to the old commercial drum type chippers that tree services used were you would chuck a branch in and duck quickly out of the way to avoid getting caught up in the branch and sucked into the machine yourself. They are very dangerous chippers.

Woodchipper - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The PTO powered disk type chippers are far less dangerous.

That's the difference in a drum chipper and a plate type chipper as Gauser mentioned. Drum types will blow back.

They also tend to eat fast. I've clocked mine at 100 feet per minute vs 5-10 for safer hyd controlled feed on newer machines.
