Choosing my First Tractor

/ Choosing my First Tractor #41
A little advice I learned perhaps the hard way a little over two years ago when my wife went into a nursing home and since I’m getting older, I decided to downsize my tractor and I went from a grand L and downsized all the way to a BX 2680 great tractor does a lot of things,, but I found that it’s lifting capacity was somewhat limited especially with pallet forks so now I’m looking to upgrade and get series with probably the same horsepower 25 hp but have more hydraulics and thus more lifting capacity. my calculations showed that the BX will lift 423 pounds with the standard bucket quick attach front loader and that’s good but the front bucket weighs only 125 pounds and my Land Pride pallet forks weigh 220 so that would reduce my listing capacity to 300 pounds very limited the Lx with the same 25 hp. And not a much larger tractor will lift right around 1000 pounds with a pallet forks which is more than I need. bottom line as people smarter than I have said is look at what you want to do and add a little fudge factor as far as capability for things, you might want to do later.
Lastly, the nice thing with the LX is all my implements will work on it and I don’t have to spend the money for a new implements just my two cents worth from an old guy
