Tiller Choosing a tiller?

Looking at tillers to go on my tractor, Kubota M7040 (62 pto hp). Found a Landpride RTR1574 for $2200, Kingkutter's, Hawkline's and Tarters all around $1700 for 6 footers. Most of the literature I read show about a 50 hp max for this size. Will I be too risking too much damage to the tiller? Probably won't till but a acre or so a year.

What kind of ground do you have? I've had a 6' KK for 10+ years and wouldn't hesitate to hook it to a tractor with 62 hp pto hp. Make sure the slip clutch is adjusted and make multiple passes when you need to break new ground.

For a once a year deal, why not rent a tiller? My local equipment dealer rents attachments, gets ~$50/day for a tiller.

I will have to check on the rental to see if any one does that, although none would be very close. I would use it some for food plots in the fall too. Really don't know how to desribe the ground, some of it works pretty good and some is a clay type. Wanting to work in some organic matter to improve the soil.

If you keep your slip clutch adjusted correctly, you will be able to run on a 100 hp tractor tractor and not worry about the tiller. Ken Sweet
