They don't help prevent the spread of COVID-19

I'm not sure that is true. If health care professionals use masks it would seem like they do something.

IMO Healthy people wearing masks are not the most efficient way to combat this. Those sick, with a cough, HC professionals, etc. are ones best to use them.

This is simply not true and you are doing nothing but spreading false information and are just more of the problem...STFU...

The information is not false. Dr. Debra Chew, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, confirmed that young people, senior citizens and those with immune deficiencies could have an acute reaction if exposed to the virus.

I'm a little perplexed as to why the WHO wouldn't be stocking up on these supplies over the years. Boggles the mind that they cry when it's thy who should have spent a few of their dollars to ensure adequate supplies for those on the front lines. If they can't even do that then they are next to useless.

I wonder how easy it would be for gatherings such as church services to start doing podcasts.
My mother in laws church broadcasts the services on the radio for people who can't make it to church. I wouldn't be surprised if the big churchs stream services on the internet.

Even our little church does that. Has for years. It is not very difficult or expensive to do.

From the link which Pennwalk shared;
Some people are young, with strong immune systems. For them, the problem is that the virus overstimulates their immune system, triggering a cytokine storm in which a person’s own immune system attacks the lungs, leading to a large release of fluid in the lungs (ARDS), eventually leading to that person “drowning” in their own lung fluids.

I may have to look into it. Actually, I could almost run a line from the church to her house. It's only about 1/4 mile up the road, on land which my grandfather sold them back when I was a wee lad.

At that small distance - aren't there little FM transmitters - for karaoke or something - that could beam signal to her FM radio?

Internet streaming is NO big deal at all. Just and internet capable camera with perhaps a better microphone feed than the one that comes in them. We are not talking a major amount of money for equipment or anything. Our church just has the one camera angle, but it works ok. This is no big deal at all. Go to Amazon and look up internet capable cameras. This is child's play. Poultry farmers do this to keep track of their chicken houses so they can leave the farm. They pull out their smart phone and look at the houses, look at the yard for people coming on their property (the cameras can send an alert) and then look at that instrumentation monitoring the houses. Heck you don't think poultry farmers stay on the farm 24/7 do you? But they do look at stuff at least once an hour.

Thanks, that link is further confirmation that youngsters are at higher risk.

How many masks do you think they should stockpile? I think they have 30million on hand.

Again...this is bogus information...everything I have read suggests that the young and healthy seem to have a natural immunity to it and most healthy adults show very mild symptoms...don't subscribe to a single source of information before you go proclaiming that it's gospel...

Spreading false and bogus information does more harm than the actual malady...

Besides, the more people that die, the more air I have to breathe, the less congested the highways are and fewer people at the supermarket. Finally funeral directors will be swamped and the funeral home business will be the business to own......:D

Far as I'm concerned we can do without some of the idiots walking around today... Few hundred thousand would work just fine....

(only joking)

Mr. Slash Pine at this point in time much is unknown about the virus. What is true or false is up for debate/study. I don't post info without a source(s) that at least seems to have some credibility. Everything you have read apparently does not include the link provided by peenwalk (post #173). It explains why youngsters with natural immunity are at high risk. That seems illogical but apparently it's true.

I saw some stats posted on another site that showed virtually no fatalities in those under age 18. Very, very low rate. Mid range 18 -50 was also low.. It was the over 60s that got hit the hardest with something like 10% fatal and a lot of those were said to have been heavy smokers or had other issues.

Gol-durned if I remember where I saw it though.
