CB Radio

Just and ordinary $7 set of earbud headphones will allow you to hear that phone ring, and you can play music from it as well.. Not a whole lot of investment. They also act as hearing protection from the tractor also.

Sure they work for listening just fine but I've seen these as cheap as $40.

The thing is these vibrate, so you don't have to even use the earbud. They would work well who don't like or can not use earbuds.

As long as you're wearing the thing around the back your neck you'll revive notification of call, text, email or what ever else.

Also, wireless connection to phone is easier to deal with.

I would have to teach my wife how to use the CB every time I needed to talk to her, so the 1 or 2 that I own are in a box in the barn. But on occasion I use my cell phone to call or text her from the shop.

Never put one on a tractor (CB) , but have been using them in my pick up trucks and big rigs since they were 23 channel . No one has ask but I'am gonna say probably the best CB ever made IMHO is the Cobra 29 ltd classic .
They got a new cool version of it which I would describe as far as looks as Batmans CB if he were to have one .However the guts are the same just faceplate changes . Also as most of yous know some cb"s nowadays come with blue tooth . Heres a pic of new camo version they also make it in black . I believe it also has like 4 different color face displays . Remember we are talking about cb radio's , not 10 meter radio's converted to 11 meter . Of course Cobra still kicks out there original silver or black faced classic(s) .

We have better luck with the FRS over the CB. Of course, I haven't messed with CB much since the '70s. Back then, about all we could get was static and skip, and it pretty much covered up any conversation. May be better by now.

Just wondering how many of you have CB radios mounted in your tractors

Not us. We run FRS radios for short range and FM business band for long range in the equipment. Don't want to hear 'potty mouth' CB crap anyway. Total waste of money (CB radio).

Not really any better, it depends on where we are in the 11 year sunspot cycle. CB was started in 1958 and while there was a UHF CB allocation even back then, the technology was such that the UHF equipment was very expensive and somewhat unreliable, so the 11 meter Amatuer band was reallocated to the new 27 Mhz CB service. BUT, the FCC cannot control ionospheric propagation, or even people for that matter. By placing what was intended to be a local short ranged service in an HF band prone to long range propagation, and complicating the error by initially using AM modulation, well what can I say, a comedy of governmental errors.

There is an Interstate rest area near our farm and all you get on a CB is girls looking for a 'date' with truck drivers......lol Truck drivers must all be popular with the girls around here....lol

Try using a channel other than 19 to avoid the 'lot lizard lingo' trash talk... if I were to get one set up to use for 'around the farm' use, I'd find a channel with no traffic, alot of the 'off' channels are used around here by the gas well and pipeline workers....
