Cannot lift and curl with Boomer 40

Non-double acting is a feature on cheaper low hydraulic flow machines. If it doesn't do it now it won't do it after you buy it. Tell your salesperson where to stick it in his sweet spot.

If you plan on a lot of loader work be sure to check the cycle times for raising/lowering the boom and curling/dumping the bucket. If they don't publish it then be prepared for very slow hydraulic cycle times. How much weight a machine lifts is only part of the equation. Cycle times are the gotchya's for less savvy buyers.

There is a LOT of variation out there and you get what you pay for. Manufacturers think that homeowners don't mind sitting around and waiting for the machines do do their jobs because they tend to buy based on machine color and the number of cup holders.

So, I have a SCUT (LS mt125) and YES, I can lift an curl at the same time. There is DEFINITELY a "sweet spot" in order to get it to do both. If your not in that spot...it won't. My hydraulic flow is only 4.6 gal.

Dealer picked up the Boomer 40 this morning. He could not get the bucket to lift and curl either. I do not feel stupid anymore. Says it is an adjustment. If so, why not get it set up before sending the unit out?

Anyway, moving on. Called the LS dealer today and getting the XR4140. More tractor for the same money. (50% more lift capacity and 25% heavier than the Boomer 40 for $700 more OTD after trade)

I really appreciated the NH dealer letting us demo the unit. Dealer is Don's Tractors in Alpena MI and they are good people. They offered me the most for my trade. I would have considered the Boomer 45 but it will not clear my garage opening so never worked the numbers on it.

are you sure the xr 4140 will fit if the boomer 45 wont? I was under the impression they were close to the same tractor. i know my xr 4140 is roughly 76 inches to the top of the folded ROPS, off the top of my head. like you i only have so much space :)

Both the dealer and I measured it and it looks like it will fit. It gets delivered next week and we will know for sure.

The loader valve is the same on the Boomer 40 and the xr4140. So if one can do both functions on the 4140 and the other cannot then it's the valve or a cable adjustment.
