Ballast calcium ballast in tires

If a BX2200 has a FEL and 60" MMM will the mower deck act as enough 'ballast'? The mower deck weigh weighs 265 pounds, that seems like quite a bit of extra weight. Can you use the FEL effectively without additional ballast, assuming the mower deck is on there?

I am trying to decide if I need a weight box. Maybe for winter I do need it to plow once the mower deck comes off.

wdn, I don't think there's any way of accurately answering your question because it depends on how much weight you're going to pick up in the FEL. For very light loads, you might not even need the MMM, but for heavy loads, it won't be enough ballast.

I've left my MMM on sometimes when using the FEL and it
does act as a good stablizing weight, but not as good as
something on the end of the tractor.

The only problem with leaving the MMM on is that it may
limit your FEL use; I was moving alot of dirt from a big
pile and the MMM would cause problems when I drove
up the pile of dirt. Needed to be careful to not get hung
up on the mower. Basically, the MMM would get in the way.

The patent for Rim Guard is held by Glen Daly, in Lansing, Michigan (517-351-6470).

I gave him a buzz and he was very helpful. Sent me several copies of the specs on it, and gave me the names of some dealers who are stocking it (not many in my area, since it's relatively new, but I've got my dealer interested). Unfortunately, my tires were already filled when I heard about Rim Guard, so I haven't used it. I have spoken to several people who have, and are happy with their choice.
