Good day,

I have a BX2660 with a BX2750 Snowblower and live in WI. I have an issue with the cutter plate and the disintegration of the housing that it mounts to. See attached. So my question is can this be fixed/welded or do I need to buy a new housing?

Not perfectly clear from the pics but it appears the rest of the housing is in really good shape and it's just the bottom edge that needs work. As such I would say it can definitely be repaired. Might be a couple hundred but I bet a whole housing is a grand or more. Again, hard to tell, but it looks like you need to put more of the blowers weight on the replaceable skid shoes and less on the housing edge itself.

Yea...It looks like I adjusted the skid plates wrong when I set it up 5 years ago. Yes the housing is in great shape expect for the damage on the bottom. I think the housing is around $500. But a big job tearing down are re-installing on the new housing.

It looks like it's worn right into the cutting edge bolt holes. If it were me I'd pull it back together and weld it up including the cutting edge. Then I'd make a set of skids that actually prevent the cutting edge from touching the ground. Like these -

The BX2750D is a heck of a blower but the skid arrangement is inadequate in my opinion. The skids are too small for unfrozen ground and they have a tendency to move after adjusted. The road and driveways I blow are gravel and I shear far fewer bolts since making these skids. It looks like you blow on pavement so a different problem, but the same cure.
Good luck.

Look for a mobile welder to come and fasten everything on the cutting edge back to the blower housing and also consider having the shoes welded in place.
It is prudent on today's tractors with lots of electronics to disconnect the blower from the tractor before welding on it.
You dont want to end up with another expensive problem!

Thanks for all your help. The welder came over today (12" of snow on the way) and but it all back together...should be fine for this winter. This summer I'll need to order a new housing and not screw it up this time.
