Just had my 50hr service done, cost $275 not counting the new trailer I bought to get the tractor to the dealer. All went well with the service. Howerver, the mechanic did find that a nylon fan blade was missing all it's blades. I guess something got up under there when I was clearing my building site.
Part is now on order. Now here comes the real bummer. Yesterday morning when I went to get onto the tractor, the plastic fender that supports the floorboard BROKE. Looks like to repair that will have to replace the entire fenders assembly. The dealer is checking to see if that is covered under warrenty. Looking at how that is designed I suspect that may be a weak link.
I will probably come up with some way to support that first step a little better. Maybe a rubber spacer under the floorboard and ontop of the framerail will do the trick. I will keep you all posted as to the outcome of this.
Cheers JT

Sorry to hear about the fan blades. I've often wondered about the ill-effects of getting a stick jambed up in there.

Even sorrier to hear about the fender assembly. I have to be honest...I bought my 2230 a few months before I wanted to SIMPLY so I wouldn't be saddled with the liability of that plastic fender assembly (bought one of the remaning two crated 2230's from my dealership). Doesn't look like much fun to replace.

I'm sure quite a few folks will be interested in the cost and time-frame of replacement...looks like it is a nice little piece of work.

Same thing happened to me. My dealer said he would make something up to support it so it would not break again. I guess I see when it gets replaced.

Where did you step when it broke? Is it practical to avoid that spot? I wonder if some preventative reinforcement would be prudent...

When you strapped the tractor to your tailer did you throw the strap around the area where the seat and floorboards connect? We've broken more than one fender by doing that, even metal ones.

Well, here is the latest update. The broken fender will be covered under warranty. Seems that Kubota is aware of the problem and will be coming up with a fix.

Answer to the question about where did I step when I got on the tractor? My first step was in the middle of the floorboard.

Answer to the tie down question? Tied the tractor to the frame in front and back, nothing in the middle.

Will update when more developes.

Cheers JT

If I had a trailer, I'd probably bring my 2230 in to have them do it--in addition to the replacement of liquids, they do a general overview of everything to make sure stuff I might miss is okay. On the other hand, I am not sure I would bring it in for $275. My dealer quoted me $185 if I brought it in, or $325 if they had to come and get it and then drop it off (I live quite a ways away).

I'll be doing my 50 hour service in a few weeks.

How about a pic of the break? I'd sure like to eyeball this on mine...if it is indeed something that could be an issue, I want to take care of it now...realizing that Kubota will have a fix for it helps though.
