BX23 Noise Question

My BX makes a clicking noise (sounds like a few pieces of gravel hitting the mower deck) for the first 30 seconds of run time when it's cold...After that the noise is gone...Doesn't seem to be valves and it sounds like it's coming from the front of the engine...The air filter bracket is fine adn everything seems tight....Muffler maybe....

Any suggestions or experiences...BTW 330 hours on the clock and fully maintained.

I was thinking muffler too. Clicking noise as it warms up. I've not noticed mine making any similar noises. Mine is at 525 hours.

X2...likely exhaust expanding as heats up. Retorquing might fix...

If it is the exhaust /muffler, just tune it out of your mind, it doesn't matter.

Inadequate oil flow to a certain part of the engine will make similar noises also(usuallly a lifter). Working carefully due to moving parts, you can use a hose or a stethoscope to locate the noise.

Mine has always done that since new...Sounds more like metal parts rattling around in the engine compartment. I just figured it was normal...

That's what mine sounds like...it just started doing it this year...

Just check to make sure the air cleaner bracket is not broken.
