I'm looking for the front axle pivot bolt nut torque spec, can't seem to find it and don't have a manual. The tractor has 796 hours on it and there's an intermittent/inconsistent clunk coming from the front end, and I figure it's coming from there. It's doesn't seem to be related to 2wd/4wd or left or right turns, just different stress situations. Hopefully it's just a matter of setting the torque properly again. Thanks!

I have a BX1500, (2005) and at my last service (400 hours) The service mech replaced the mounting bolt. It showed wear to the point that it was ready to fail. As the previous owner did almost now maintenance on my tractor (I had to totally rebuild the mower deck), I was not surprised.

I also have a bx1500. My manual says to tighten the adjusting nut to 15 lbs ft. If additional adjustment is needed to align the split pin with the hole tighten the nut to align. Manual says to check every 400 hrs. I really don't think that would cause a "clunk" though. Sounds more like something in the front axle gears. Have you checked the fluid level in the fron axle?

I had a clunk that sounded like it was coming from the rear. Found the front axle adjusting bolt loose. Tightened it to the recommended torque and problem went away.

I haven't checked any fluid yet. The old man says he's on top of maintenance so I let him be. I buy him filters and fluids and such for letting me borrow it from time to time.

The noise definitely sounds like it's coming from the front, not the back. I'll get it torqued properly and see what happens. Hopefully the bolt isn't worn out. I don't know how long the clunk has been there.

Thank you for posting the torque spec, I'm sure it's not any different across models. I'll check the torque and see what happens.
