Hello all. Been a while since I posted but I've been reading you pretty much daily. My problem is flat tires on my BX. 2 years old, 220 hours. I just can't seem to keep them inflated. A total of 9 punctures and 2 holes in the rears that required 2 new tires. It's not like I'm driving on nails and broken glass... Mostly I'm driving sticks through the tires between the bars. I try to be careful but, man I'm tired of flats. Green slime works OK on the fronts as long as I don't put weight in the FEL. Then the slime just blows out and squirts me as I drive. The rears are more of a problem due to the Calcium filling. Both a mess and getting expensive. I think the Kubota tires are very poor. Does anyone make a real tire that will fit. I mean one made out of rubber rather than made out of rubber balloon material. I have never poked a hole in my Wheel Horse tires on the same property. I guess the next set will have to be foam filled if I have to stay with a Kubota tire. Help?

I can't offer any solution, but plenty of condolences. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I have had at least 10 flats, mostly front. 3 in one day once. The tires seem very thin, although most of mine were from nails, screws, etc.

When I wear-out the fronts I am going to foam-fill the replacements. Will pay for itself in a year.

Foam fill is probably the final answer...

I foam filled the fronts of my BX (bar tires) and had I felt the need would have foam filled the rears. I liquid filled the rears instead. For me, it would have cost about $300 to foam fill the set of four tires.

On my first BX I foam filled the fronts after 2 flats. Never had a flat in the rear. I suppose I'm just waiting for a flat in the fronts before i do it again...

Another Long time member, just have not posted in a while, and yes, I have had the same problem, with the BX 23 Bar tires, and flats. I did try and order a set of the new R4's, but due to knee surgey, had to cancle the order. I just keep plugs, in my tool box, and keep pluging away. Some day, I may upgrade to the R4 of the new BX 24, but it will have wait, until my doctor is paid off.

Ok then... What would be the advantage of running "R4's" on my BX23 vice the "Bar Tires"? Are the R4's stronger? Also... does anyone have a picture of an R4 tire?

I meant to post this earlier. My dealer highly recommended using Briggs & Stratton tire filler, said the Slime is worthless. It'll fill up to a 1/2 inch puncture. I haven't had any problems yet and have been in heavy brush with the rotary cutter.

Man that tire looks weird. Almost like a turf tire with some kind of bar tread stretched over it.

I found some "slime" type tire sealant at Walmart a couple of years ago. I bought four 16oz bottles - the slime was bright green with black specs in it, and had a black label and was for tractor, pickup & car tires.

I had a bunch of Russian Olive trees (they have 2" spikes) that were causing flats. When I swapped my turfs for the bar tires (same ones you find on the BX's) at the 20 hour mark, I had the tire shop put a bottle of tire sealant in each tire. I've got 180 hours now and haven't had a flat since. By the way, I tore down all those Russian Olives (about 4 dozen) with my FEL & dragged them to the burn & chainsaw piles - lots of holes in the tires, but the slime stuff worked. I also pulled a lot of those spikes out of the tires during that time. The tires still hold air as if they were new.
