I have a BX2200 that runs for about 5 minutes and then dies, let it sit for awhile and then it restarts. I already changed the two fuel filters, any other ideas? Also I find the hydro pedal to stay down and very slow to return to neutral, anybody seen this with the BX2200 and what is the cure? Thanks

There are several post on the HST sticking and the fix. Just search this site. Kubota is now installing a grease fitting on the HST control. You might check with your dealer about this. I disconnected the shock cylinder inside the frame on my BX2200 and adjusted the spring tension. I haven't had any problems since then. On the stalling, my BX did the same thing. It turned out that the dealer had gotten water in the fuel system. They changed the filters, drained the tank ect. and I haven't had any problems since. Hope these ideas help you. I have about 47 hours on my tractor and it's running great. It is a fun tractor to drive.

Call the dealer, and they should be able to remedy both issues. As Watersjj noted, the sticking HST fix is known, and correctable by Kubota. Rather than fight these problems, put the warranty to use. Hopefully, you'll be back in the seat in no time!

I would have already called the dealer and had him out there! Probably you have water in the fuel. Heck, these new tractors--get the dealer out there. J

Yes ddl, the muffler belt is a good guess, could be right but I would check that kanuder valve operation before the belt thingy. Sometimes they stick closed and cause all kinds of consternations to occur. Of course if the muffler belt is contorting it could cause cyclic feed back into the fuel mesmeriser at which point one would be totaly sc----d! J, flamdangled

hey,
is the muffler belt an option. i dont have one i dont think?
im gonna call the dealer today and ask. it probably holds it on tighter and reduces any exhaust leaks, right?

I would take it to the dealer, I'm wondering if the electric fuel pump isn't working. The BX series has an electric fuel pump mounted under the tractor between the 1st and 2nd fuel filter when you turn the key on you should hear the pump run, it makes kind of a ticking noise.

Doc, there are only a few things it could be with a diesel, fuel pump, plugged filter system/injectors, bad fuel, water in fuel. I suspect you got water in the fuel. Water will often entrain in diesel fuel whereas in gasoline it will pool at the bottom of the tank (unless high alcohol content in the gasoline--hygroscopic). This being so your engine would run but maybe not well and then quit. I am sure your dealers mechanic can set things straight, that is your best option at this point. J

Thanks again guys, I have an appointment to take it in. Sounds like it could be the electric pump, dont hear anything ticking. Might be the fuse. Have a good one.

If you hear no ticking it sure sounds like the electric fuel pump isn't working. I'd bet the only reason it runs for 5 min is the head pressure of the fuel is enough to push the fuel to the injector pump, but not enough to run it for long.

Hope to hear back from the dealer tomorrow, sounds like it could be the electric pump. blown fuse maybe.
Thanks again

The dealer tells me he had to send out the injection pump, the number three port did not have the recomended pressure when it heated up. Scored or something like that. Anyone see anything like that.

I take it that you've been running good clean fuel? No Kero or water. It's not uncommon to have an injection pump fail, doesn't happen real often with something new but then everything isn't purfect right off the assembly line each and every time. I'm sure your dealer will get it back up and running like a swiss watch.

will water get through the filters? thats the only thing that might have happened. Fuel these days isnt all that great.

I spent some time in West Africa and water in the fuel was the bane of our lives when traveling (and occasionally fuel in the water too!). We'd pull up to a gas station and the guys selling gas (pumps didn't usually work where we were) would roll a 55 gallon drum of gas up to the truck. They would then hand pump from the drum into the truck.

Here's the catch - once in a while we'd come across some less scrupulous dealers. The problem with them rolling the barrel over to the truck was that it was mixing the gas and the water they had put in there to make up the weight. The two liquids usually can't be mixed.

You could tell (and here's the point - sorry) because we used a special funnel with an extremely fine mesh filter in the bottom. The trick was to first wait a couple of minutes and make conversation before pumping started - which would allow the liquids to separate back a little. You could then tell if there was water in the fuel because it would bead up on the mesh if you briefly stopped pumping -- and you could halt the process before it was too late.

I've seen a few funnels with a fine mesh in hardware stores here in the US but they don't look quite as fine as what we used ... just a thought.
