BX2200 steering problem

I have developed a steering problem with my BX2200 at 270 hours
I had not heard of any posts about this problem on TBN (Yet)
It will work all the time steering to the right, but when driving in a straight line it will drift to the right and when I try to turn Left the wheel will turn 1/2 to 3/4 turn to the left with no correction to the steering and then it catches and seems to slightly over correct, Scary when on a public road!
When setting still the wheels will turn to the right no problem, but again I can turn 1/2 to a full turn to the left befor any movement of the wheels then it connects and will turn left.
I plan to take it into the dealer in the morning, but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

This won't help you much but I remember somebody else reporting this type of problem. Maybe another TBNer will remember the resolution.

Jim; Try doing a search. If I remember right, it seems that there was a problem with some bad steering pistons on some of the BX tractors. your dealer should have a service bulletin on this. Good luck,

Thanks guys, I keep forgetting to search, Like my problems have to be something new,
I did a search and this is an ongoing problem on the BX2200.
Seems like one of the factory suppliers got some moisture on the cylinders and the rust just started and kept on untill it messed up the seals in the steering cylinders.
Service bulletin PSB-2001-048.
I understand that Carter & Carter was the one that furnished the bulletin to a TBN member

I am having a bx2200 delivered tomorrow. When checking it out at the dealer's today, his mechanic happened to mention that early bXs had a problem with the steering cylinder, but that it was corrected.

Perhaps you have one of the early ones and the problem is now showing up?

This is a known problem to Kubota apparently...There was also something else, but I forgot what it was...maybe something to do with the fuel tank? Yes, that was probably it.

Anyway, I would ask the dealer to check into bx steering cylinder problems...still under warranty? If not, maybe they will cover it anyway as they seem to know they had a number of bad steering cylinders in the beginning...

Here's my thread from earlier this year concerning the power steering issue. My tractor was out of warranty, but Kubota/dealer were happy to take care of it---albeit allowing me to further in my mechanical education by replacing the cylinder myself.

The good news is that my front end hasn't fallen off after my work---and the steering works perfectly.

I had the same problem on my 2230...but mine lasted until 500 hrs..
replace the cylinder..
