What a day!

I had a day off from work yesterday, so I decided to get my bx2200 ready for the summer. I changed the oil/filter, coolant, air filter, and fuel filters. It took a little over an hour and done?.nope. Hop on the tractor, it won稚 start. My first thought was the fuel filters. Why? I usually order Kubota parts, but this time I decided to simplify and order everything from amazon.

I got a Stens 100-533 air filter and two Stens 120-678 fuel filters. When I got the order, I noticed the one fuel filter was an Oregon brand with the Stens number wrote (in pen) on it. I wasn稚 thrilled, but figured it would work. I guess they don稚.

I put the original fuel filters back on and the tractor ran fine. I also noticed that the Stens brand was larger than the Kubota and did not fit in the clamp. The Oregon brand had a larger lip on the inlet and outlet and was very tough to get on (and off).

I wonder if they were just defective or the wrong filter? It just seemed very strange to me. I did notice the filter that is closest to the engine was only filling up half full. The Oregon filter was clear plastic so I could see it clearly.

Anyway, I tried to save some time and shipping costs and ended up messing around way more than necessary!
Lesson learned.

Ha ha! When I read the title I just had to look.

What springs need maintenance? I don't have any springs on my BX.

Yeah, when I do maintenance it is always with Kubota parts. Well, maybe a WIX oil filter now and then. The small difference in price just doesn't justify taking a chance with off-brand stuff.

Since I have three tractors and a couple of mowers, I just order a stack of maintenance stuff from Messick's and keep track of them on a spreadsheet. Large orders make the shipping costs less painful.

I only use kubota filters and now always have an extra set on hand. Got bit the first winter with gelled fuel/filters, never again. From what I spent on the BX, an extra oil,hydro,air,2 fuel filters is nothing. Even having an extra quart of oil, hydro and diesel 911 is in the cabinet too.
