To the OP: You began with saying, "Both would be overkill".

You also mentioned your wife and her preference for keeping within a budget.
You mentioned limiting your size due to gates, shedding, etc.

From all that, I'd say keep your money. If the BX1860 is overkill, then so be it. You are gonna love it!!! I love mine. Want to see it work?

Are those larger tires? Looks like they are. Thought you could not get the larger ones to fit??

Just keep in mind, the 1860 alone, dry, weighs almost 1300. Add fuel, mower deck, or FEL, quick hitch, etc and you'll easily push the limits on your ramp. Your 2200 bed capacity is well able. I might be concerned about lashing it down, but I am sure you have that figured out already. Best regards on your shopping.

I would only put in truck bed with mmm on. FEL would be too long, tailer only then. Thanks. Philip.

Yes, they are indeed the larger wheels and tires. Since I do not mow with an MMM, I like the increased traction and handling. If I needed to mow, I'd use a Rear Finishing Mower.

If you install a mid deck mower, your clearance will only allow the OEM wheels and tires.

I went thru the same process about a month ago,I knew the 1860 would suit my needs. The 1860 is slightly smaller than the 2360,after sitting on both of them I felt more comfortable on the 2360 and that is why I went with the 2360.

if you want the big wheels on a bx your adding $360.00 - $420.00 to the initial cost of the tractor. shrekbelly

Actually, you can then subtract the sale of the OEM wheels/tires. About $350 on Craigslist. Net for the upgrade is only $40-80.

BTW, this isn't something the dealer will do at the time of sale, most likely. Do it a month later when you get 'er home. Order the wheels through Whole Goods. Sell the OEMs and you are set. (as long as you don't mow with MMM)

Heading down later today to make the final decision. My dealer has both in stock and the price difference is a grand. So with the larger tires and engine it is really a toss up for me. A grand will buy a lot of diesel though:D:D

Yeah it will no more fuel than these things burn especially, but when figured over the number of years you will own it, it really is insignificant. Either will do all you need done, so you really can't go wrong; good luck.

After reading through your initial thoughts, it seems the 1860 would amply suit your needs. Being on a 1 acre plot, the extra maneuverability would be great, I would think.

Personally, I wouldn't consider the 48" deck...only the 54". Likewise, if you got the 2360, I would only consider the 60" deck. I have the 60" and it is great.

Also, I would not even consider the purchase unless you also got a FEL. You will never run out of uses for it, I promise.

Either way, you can't go wrong...

I think the bed on my SuperDuty will eat the BX1860 without any problems. My ramps are rated 1500#. Truck is rated 2200#.

?? I would not consider putting even my bald (no attachment) BX2230 on ramps rated for a combined 1,500#. Perhaps if I was going into a shed 1' off the ground, but honestly...that truck bed is nearly 3 feet in the air. If something went wrong, it isn't just a ding on the fender...it would be the nearly complete destruction of the tractor and if you're lucky, you'd avoid serious injury.

I'd want ramps rated for not a pound less than 3,000# EACH to consider driving my tractor into a truck bed like that.

Also, I'd love to see pictures of somebody loading a BX with MMM attached into a truck bed. With just over 4 feet between the wheel wells, I'm not sure how the MMM would fit between there. Even a 48" deck has overhang on one side for blade clearance and the other side for the chute.

More likely would be the removal of the 3PH assembly and BACKING a BX tractor onto a DRW 1-ton 8' truck bed with FEL attached. Using appropriately rated ramps, of course. But not with the MMM attached.

Honestly not trying to be a nay-sayer or a pest, but I'd hate there to be mis-information out there that you could toss these things in a truck like you would a Crapsman...

When I saw the OP intention of getting 48" deck for BX and drive it on the bed of truck, I am thinking I wouldnt do it, but didnt want to post. I am thinking, the biggest problem might be the deck not being really a 48" without the chute, but a 48" swath for sure. Does anyone know, measure for us ?

As far as the ramps go, that's one thing..I would never put that kind of weight on those cheesy tailgate cables that they use nowadays...I've had those break. Not a pretty sight.

I agree.

There is no way you need the bx2360. I have an 1860 with a front end loader and 54" mower. I plow a 600 foot driveway (Minnesota), haul rock from one end of my property to another with the bucket, mow 3 acres of hills and 3 acres between grape vines (on a slope) and pull a spray trailer through the same grapes several times a year. There is not once that I wished I had more power or a bigger tractor - The added weight of a bigger tractor would hurt more than it would help. I am going to fill my rear wheels with liquid for better balance when moving buckets of manure and dirt, but that is about it. I have had no problems with it. I have thought back about how hard the decision was to go with the 1860 vs the 2360 - And now I laugh at it. Even with the amount I do the bx1860 is way more than I need.
