Kubota BX1800
I presently own a BX1800. My only complaint has been with the ROPS. It doesn't fold down. During the weekend I picked up a brochure for the new BX22. Much to my surprise, they have provided this unit with a "foldable" ROPS. Does anyone know if it is possible to purchase a BX22 ROPS and install it on the BX1800 without having to do any modifications?

I do not know the answer to your question but I have seriously concidered taking mine to a certified welder and having mine made to fold down. There are times when the ROPS is a hazard. I'll be watching to see what you come up with.

Bob,

I just got a BX 2200 last week and the ROP does not fold, I wish it did, was thinking of taking it off for the summer mowing. Are you sure it was not a B7500? If not, I need to find out why I got one without the folding option. I checked out the Kubota web site, it still shows the non-foldable type, any other updates for 2002 I should know about??? Keep us posted.

He said BX22 not BX2200. I was not aware either had a folding ROP but it sounds like a good improvement. J

That is correct, I said BX22 not BX2200. Although I have yet to actually see the new BX22, the brochure is quite explicit with a photo pointing out the folding feature on the ROPS. The shape appears to be somewhat different however. On the BX1800 and BX2200, the ROPS is more or less a perfect inverted "U" shape. On the BX22, the ROPS appears to flair outboard of the mounting points somewhat before taking on the "U" shape. I am assuming that this was necessary to allow the operator additional "elbow" room when operating the backhoe.

It does appear to me that the BX22 is physically almost identical to the BX1800 and BX2200. I think there is no doubt that many of the components are identical. This ROPS thing has really got me going because I would prefer to operate with a factory-made ROPS rather than something I have modified and, no doubt, voided any warranties. I intend to pursue this and I welcome any and all input from members of this board.

Attached is from a flyer I received yesterday. The BX22 is shown with a foldable ROPS -the BX2200 is shown with a non-foldable ROPS.

Bob, I just changed the ROPS on my B2400 to the folding type. The B2400 never came with a folding ROPS but the B2410 has it as an option. I added a backhoe so I changed the ROPS at the same time. The origional one was the inverted U shape and the folding one flairs out to the sides like you described. Only 4 bolts to change and it fit perfectly. There was even a ROPS trade in program because I got a backhoe. Got it all from Carver's.
