Anyone checked out this Ingersoll Machine? Obviously, an attempt at BX22 or 2200 competitive placement in the market. That's why I put this post here rather in the 'Other' section. I think here in NY it retails for about 11k. Thoughts? It's Kohler gas powered though.

Is it a new machine or has it been around a while? Kind of reminds me of a terramite.

Does the 11K include the backhoe?

Those have been around for a while. You often see them for rent at Rental outlets and our local hardware store has one for rent. A year before I bought the BX I rented it for a day to clean up construction debris etc around the house. Trust me--it is no competition for a BX and not even sure a mower deck is avaialbe. In any case it is a rather crude machine, noisy with a lot of vibration and rather lacking in power and more than a bit clunky feeling---now this one is a good comparison to a Harley /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif ! They look the same but they not. The 7000 series is relatively new. Terramites are what you find at
hardware store rentals etc.

If you check the specs, you will see that there is little comparison. Over 800lb capacity on the FEL is pretty good!

Having owned an Ingersoll before, I can attest that they do not make anything flimsy.

With that said, some of the other Terramite specs are pretty impressive as well.

Doug,

Before I bought my B2910 (almost 2 years ago), I looked at both the Terramite (at a rental outlet) and a 6000 series Ingersoll (at a dealer).

Their "digging" power and specs might beat the BX22 and other tractors in that size. But for me, there was more to it than just spec. sheets.

Both companies appear to build very solid, heavy duty looking units. However, they looked very "industrial" and did not have the "good looks" of any of the regular compact utility tractors (Kubota, Deere, New Hollad, et al). They did have impressive loader and backhoe specs, but the rest of the unit looked rather crude. For a contractor or rental outlet, I think they probably would work very well, and perhaps even better than a normal CUT.

But for me, since they were in the same ball park pricewise as the tractors I was looking at, I wanted something that looked a bit more modern and something that would instill some real "pride of ownership". The Ingersoll and the Terramite just didn't "set my heart a flutter", so to speak.

Again, I don't want to take anything away from either unit. They appear to be very solidly built. They just weren't for me.

If they were substantially cheaper, I might have even been tempted, but I didn't see any real significant difference in prices when I was shopping.

I'm not swayed by appearances however, 11k for anything with a gas engine (though it was 4wd) is too much imho.

The ingersoll is a far cry from the Kubota BX machines. The difference is structural engineering. One is a tractor the other is a yard machine.

I love the BX series from Kubota and personally prefer it. But calling an Ingersoll a yard machine is an interesting observation. You must be thinking of some pretty "tough" yard machines /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Frankly, if the Ingersol had a diesel, it would be competitive with the BX and priced well under it. Especially since prospective BX22 owners will find themselves waiting considerable times for their machines. The dealers round here can't keep them on the lot.
