Grading BX and a boxblade

guys,
i have a large area that i'm going to renovate. first i must use a landscape rake, then cut down numerous sapplings (maximum diameter 2.5 inches). my question is, will i be able to tear the stubs and some roots up with a strong boxblade (either with the digging tine or rear cutting edge)?

You're going to use a landscape rake BEFORE you cut down the saplings? I'm having a hard time visualizing how that works. I don't have a boxblade but in my experience with a backhoe a 2"+ diameter stump is going to stop your BX in its tracks, but it probably depends on the tree species and soil type.

Maybe. Depends on their roots. I dislodged/uprooted several that size with my RatchetRake and later ran through some with the boxblade. They are/were what we call water sprouts here so came up pretty easy and the ground was slightly moist and mostly top soil.
The Ratchetrake did alot better because the teeth are really close together and grabbed them and pulled them out. The problem with the Boxblade was/is the space between the digging tines which let the BB slide past the unwanted subject without removing them. The strength part of tractor or BB should not be an issue, it's just getting the tines/teeth of the BB to grad them. Believe the blade may do the same thing, just slide over them. Just give it a try. If it doesn't work, come get my RR.
