The temp gage on my BX23 does not seem to register anything, zero, nilch.
I mowed yesterday with a 60"MMM for about 2.5 hours, 85 degrees and when I was putting it away I noticed that it appeared to be bottomed on the cold end.
Any ideas? Anyone else have this issue. I did not check the wires underneath, but did notice the back lighting on the gages funtioned.
Thanks

Not sure, but seems like the first time or two I changed the oil or "fixed" the air filter bracket I knocked the sending unit wire off. Seems like it's the wire sticking up out of the top of the head (?) I can check tonight if you don't get a resolution.

Both of which I have done, I recently performed the bracket ritual. So its a good chance its at the sending unit? I will look it over tonight. It definitely appears to be no signal as its reading less than cold. Thank you.
I will post tomorrow and let you know how I made out.

85 degrees? Down here is South Texas, it's 85 degrees at 7 am! Did you break a sweat?

I think I found the sending unit on the right side above the oil filter, one blue lead. It appears to be connected, I pulled it off and re-installed it, and verified connections under the dash. As for the 85 degrees, I failed to mention it is still december here. We jus had all that flooding that was on the news. We lost 2 covered bridges, one of which was one of the only 2 twin covered bridges in the US. The roads are still closed in many areas. I am head to a National tractor Pull tonight to whatch the big boys. But anyway,I do believe that July heat is headed this way starting saturday. Anything over 90 and my bodily funtions start to shut down, even if its breezy.
Figure I'll be mowing real soon, I will keep ya posted. thanks for the quick reply.

I think that is the oil sender. I belive the temp sender is in the top of the head.

AH, I blieve you are correct, I will look abit more, I could not find it and tried to chase any wires coming from the main harness. I will do a better visual around the head tonight. I just could not find anything. I did switch out the air filter bracket and thought I may have interfered with it then. But I still have not found it. That was the oil sender, as it resembles the one on the jeep. Thank you!

I have had the bx1500 & bx 1850, not your model but the sender was on top in the left front corner of the head or in front of the air cleaner.

Good luck and I agree that the wire is disconnected as I had the same problem.

Here you go man. Pic taken from the right side at about the dash looking forward, the wire is close to the center of the pic, just to the left of the bottom of the #1 injector, it has an insulated terminal that is light red.

Thanks for the shot brew, I looked at it this weekend and thought that must have been it. Its fully seated, I did everything just short of putting dielectric grease on it and re-seating. I am gonna run it again this week and see if its working. We got the heat on so I am expecting it to run > cold this time around.
I noticed the spindles on my 60" MMM run hotter than the bota. I have read about the greasing issue here before, and did a thorogh job of greasing before using for the first time. After I mowed last time, I could not keep my hand on the zerk fitting. Kind of a strange question, but after all these years, maybe I will gain some addtional knowledge.
When my deck was hot, I tried to grease the zerks, they would not except any grease, it was like I had a bad fit up on the zerk. I struggled with all of them and still feel I did not get any grease past the zerk, just all over the spindle. I gonna try before I mow.
Question is: Could the heat have a direct effect on the zerk not working properly? I know metal expands, but wholly ****! Never had this issue before, where I could not get ANYTHING past the CLEAN zerk.
