Yes, I opted to go with the 3901 DT instead because of that very reason . Instead of breaking what little bit that is offered with the after market parts/adapter. The increase in $ for the extra 6 HP and the live PTO option was $1500.

I was considering doing the front axle when I get home. Parts are less the $100...8 bolts, a little wire.

So in the end, it was 26k for the L3901DT with Quick attach bucket, 20 ft 7k Lamar Trailer, LP 5' cutter, LP 5' Box Blade, Third function mounted to the front, Block Heater, and 0% for 60 months.

That is an overrunning clutch so that when you stop the implement doesn't keep running and pushing the tractor. This is included in the tractor trans.

Live PTO means power keeps going to the implement when you push in the clutch, to say stop or turn, slow down, etc. My last kubota had it and it's OK, but not ideal. A brush hog has a LOT of rotating mass so will keep going, but you do have to 'start' it moving more often - more wear on parts. I doubt you'll wear anything out in your lifetime though.

I found it a bigger problem with the MMM as it has less mass and would spin down nearly instantly. Here there is more wear on the belt(s).

New tractor (kioti ck3510hst) had live PTO and it's great.

One way to deal with the non-live PTO would be to add a one way clutch adaptor:

Unless you're going to be hauling the tractor to work sites the trailer's not going to get used often. Especially if you do your own routine maintenance (it's pretty simple, tractors are less complex than modern trucks). My last tractor never went to the dealer and the current one hasn't yet either. It'd be cheaper to rent a trailer when you need it.
