Bush hog, bush cutter, brush hog, brush cutter, brush chopper, stump finder, stump jumper, rock thrower, rock launcher, fencepost finder, fence winder, scalper, thrasher, rabbit shredder, fish line winder, plus a hundred more I'm sure I've heard over the years and forgotten, lol

I know I'm being picky but I have an issue with folks calling a rotary mower a Bush Hog. Bush Hog is a brand name just as John Deere, Ford, Dodge, etc.
Home - Bush Hog This is the Bush Hog website note they even call them rotary cutters. I know it may be a hard habit to break but could we learn to call them rotary cutters unless of course you are referring to the Bush Hog brand.

I have called a rotary mower, clipper ,a bush hog all my life. Just like calling a car, a vehicle. I was raised up on a dairy farm and the proper name for teat is teat. That always sounded funny so I always called them "****" just like women have. The local vet did too. Just like saying tomato,toma ta. Let it go, they, the pasture clipper, bush hog, brush hog, what ever anyone calls it, they all mean the same.

I had a friend once whose nickname was "Bush Hog". His nickname had nothing to do with a piece of equipment called a rotary cutter!

Yes you are picky, do you call your hand tools by such names as crescent wrench, channel locks or Allen wrenches, yes they all are brand name tools too, when your supposed to say adjustable wrench, adjustable pliers or hex key wrenches, but most don't, real picky, yes I have a set of Allen sockets and a ratchet in half inch drive.

I bought a bush hog one time, it ended up being a POS so I switched to a "Woods". lol So, now I have to say "rotary cutter" because no one would know what a "woods" is.

ya I know... I was saying I do exactly the same for snowmobile, they show up with a Polaris and I say nice skidoo, then they say its a Polaris and I answer nice Polaris Skidoo

I got ya. I have never touched a snow cycle.

Hmm, when you start off saying "I know I'm being picky but...", and finish with .."but could we learn....", you are literally asking us to please be picky along with you.
That's a pretty big request. We're all different. For example, I learned to drive on a tractor without live pto, operating a (name brand) Bush Hog which would push me through a fence when I stepped on the clutch if I didn't anticipate the effect of the inertia. I have always known full well that Bush Hog is a brand name, but it's tough to shake a habit from childhood and now some after 55 years later, I shudder when I hear "brush hog". Why? Because it's just a euphemism; it's people deliberately saying Bush Hog without really saying Bush Hog. It's like saying "Jiminy Crickets" to avoid swearing. We all know what you really mean! So please! Could we all learn to stop implying "Bush Hog" by saying "brush hog"?!!! For my sake? Thank you.
Oh and on a tangent, is it possible to operate a shrub pig from a Robert feline?
