Hi All

I have a Bush Hog SQ600 with a broken blade. I am accessing the blade retaining nut from the top of the deck and even with a 5' breaker bar on a 3/4" drive socket I am unable to move the thing. I have tried penetrating oil and heat. Am I missing something?

Thanks

I would say "yes".

Torch out BOTH bolts, replace both blades, nuts and bolts and get on with life. Don't waste time generating aggravation. If you don't have a fire wrench, chop out the nuts and replace both blades and nuts and bolts. Maybe try adding a pipe extention to the breaker bar and snap the bolts out.

DONE.

Have you tried a pneumatic impact wrench? I have an SQ600 and that's what I have used.

About another 5' extension on that breaker bar. Its not unusual to require 1000ft# or more to loosen a bolt thats been there a while. The ones on my bushog I tighten to 600#+ anyway.

IF you resort to cutting them out, if you can get the center stump jumper nut off, you can access the blade bolts/nuts lots easier to either torch or grind them off.
